[Note: I wrote this in the LXer.com forum in response to Bodhi Linux project leader Jeff Hoogland's blog post regarding #fedora that was linked in LXer.com. It appears here as it does in today's Larry the Free Software Guy blog post. I did spell out "asshat" below, where I did not do that in the forum posting. Jeff's blog item is here, and I would invite everyone to read it first before reading my response below. Or not. It's up to you. Also, I fixed the link to the Eric Raymond/Rick Moen tome below that's well worth a read.]

Truth in advertising disclaimer: Many of you already know that I have been an active participant in the Fedora Project for several years; for those of you who don’t, that secret is now out (and, man, do I feel relieved admitting it!). I have also been a regular in many IRC channels, both Fedora and non-Fedora related, though I am not a regular in #fedora — in fact, I avoid #fedora for the same reasons Jeff outlines in his self-proclaimed “rant.”

That said, Jeff accurately points out a situation that has been a sticking point, and one that is being addressed and corrected, in the Fedora Project around the types of caustic responses that sometimes come up in #fedora. Also, while I don’t frequent the channel and usually find answers to my questions elsewhere — a good practice (and more on this later) — I can say that it’s something that has caused some of us in the Fedora Project some concern.

However — and you knew that was coming — just as an observation on my part, it appears Jeff shot from the hip on this one rather than giving it some thought before writing.

Believe me, I am not casting the first stone against this “sin” — I speak from experience here: lots of experience in which I have fired off unretractable words that a walk in the redwoods or shooting a few hoops would have tempered into something more reasonable and justifiable.

So, Jeff, with apologies, I think your blog goes over the top in the following ways:

a.) #fedora has not cornered the market in asshats by any stretch of the imagination, despite our mutual experience in this particular channel. The cantakerous tards who have an inflated self-worth exist in most IRC channels in every distro across the board — maybe not in Bodhi, if their leader has any say in it (I sincerely hope) — but I think it’s more the nature of things like how IRC operates as well as a wake-up call for the need for change, positive change, in this regard.

b.) It’s a little myopic to judge the performance of a distro by the people “representing” it (and, arguably, any bad experience in any distro-related IRC channel does not accurately reflect the community as a whole, but rather reflects personality flaws in those responding to questions, regardless of whether they’re chanops or not). If that were the case, I would never, ever, EVER use PCLinuxOS, since I have had the same experience seeking information from them that we have had with Fedora (and I do have a box in the lab with PCLOS).

c.) An aside: When I first started using Linux, I was told to read this tome by Eric S. Raymond and Rick Moen: “How to Ask Questions the Smart Way” which lives here:

http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

(You may have to copy/paste the link above — there is no space before the ~ though each posting insists on inserting one)

Why this isn’t a README in all distros is a mystery, but it should be. I am not suggesting that Jeff asked the wrong question here, but often times questions are not asked in the most efficient or direct way. But as Jeff points out in his blog, we don’t know the circumstances that the user is facing in finding out an answer, but it does help immensely to ask the right question. Immensely.

d.) Another aside: I can’t imagine Jared Smith of Fedora or Jono Bacon of Ubuntu firing off a rant like this. As a project leader for what I think is an up-and-coming distro, I hope you understand, Jeff, that as a project leader, you’re in the bigs now and what you say and do reflect on your project for better or worse.

For those of you who have gotten this far, thanks for staying awake. I’ll now put on my Nomex and feel free to flame away.

I’ll be there. You should be there, too.

BLOGGER’S NOTE: This blog item originally was posted in the Larry the Free Software Guy blog on Tuesday. While it appears here because it has to do with Fedora, most of what is below is fairly obvious and not terribly newsworthy to those in the Fedora Project. My apologies.

For those of you who keep track of such things, the Fedora Project’s naming convention is somewhat unique. Fedora doesn’t take a character from the famous Pixar movie “Toy Story,” as Debian does, or have the distro’s space-traveling master of all he surveys unite an adjective and an animal both starting with the same letter, as Ubuntu does. No, Fedora puts a little more effort into the name choice for each release; an effort that can sometimes border on performance art when debated publicly among those in the community.

The formula is simple: “$CURRENT_NAME is a and so is $NEXT_NAME.” A history of the names can be found here.

So this formula has produced some interesting names. Fedora Core 5′s Bordeaux — a wine region in France, but also a comic book character — begat Fedora Core 6′s Zod, another comic book character. One of my favorites is Fedora 11′s Leonidas — which comes from Fedora 10′s Cambridge (Cambridge is a ship in the Navy, and so is Leonidas) — because it allowed some fun with the name with “300″ memes. Ubuntu? THIS! IS! FEDORA! followed by a swift kick.

As an aside, it’s unfortunate that Barona was not chosen as the Fedora 16 name, which would lend itself to rewriting the lyrics to The Knack’s “My Sharona.” Such are the things that go into consideration in Fedora circles regarding what name to choose in the ranked voting.

There was a huge effort to bestow Beefy Miracle as the Fedora 16 name, to the point where T-shirts and sites abounded. As noted here and elsewhere, I was not fond of that name, which didn’t come from an A-is-a-(blank)-and-so-is-B formula as much as it came from an algorithm based on the Fedora 15 name, Lovelock (not exactly a barnburner either). The problem wasn’t the formula so much as the name, arguably, lent itself to painting a target on the distro for merciless derision in the FOSS world. However, with all the effort that went into promoting the name and with what it meant to those who pursued it – hell, it’s only a name that never gets remembered anyway — I gave it the highest rank in votes anyway in a field of candidates (Barona excluded) that seemed to be so weak as to ensure Beefy Miracle’s success.

So I waited for Fedora 16 Beefy Miracle.

Well, guess what? The Fedora world woke up this morning to the results of the naming vote to a shocker. Beefy Miracle finished second in the polling to Verne — not Jim Varney’s off-screen buddy (who I believe doesn’t have the tailing e at the end of his name), but Jules Verne, the science fiction writer and futurist. Therein lies the connection: James Lovelock is a futurist, and so is — or was — Jules Verne (never mind MY futurist, Marshall McLuhan not making the ballot, despite celebrating his centennial year this year as well as coining the phrase “the global village”).

Personally, I’m stunned. Everywhere you went in Fedora circles — and that would mostly include IRC channels, Beefy Miracle was collectively on the tips of everyone’s tongues and a lot of effort went into promoting the new “god” — but it was not to be. I truly thought that some approved candidates were left off the final ballot — Dusty, Talladega and others — to ensure Beefy Miracle’s success. The prospect that Fedora Activity Days at events would be called “Meat Ups” now falls by the wayside. There is no joy in Mudville.

Now I have to rework my presentations for Fedora 15 — the standard stump speech has a “what’s coming up in the next release” and part of that is explaining the naming convention and how we came up with the name for the following release. I feared the derisive laughter that, “Well, upcoming in Fedora 16, which is code-named Beefy Miracle . . . ,” and found a way to deliver it with some decorum. Now I don’t have a chance to do that.

It’s sad on various levels, though I am sure we have not seen the last of that hot dog.

[Larry Cafiero serves as an Ambassador Mentor for North America in the Fedora Project, as well as serving as a member of the Fedora Ambassadors Steering Committee (FAmSCo).

Registration is now open for SCALE 9X — register now by clicking on the winking penguin.

The morning is simple: Coffee, bagel, e-mail. In my e-mail this morning, there was an announcement of something called Planet Edited, which seems to be a version of the Planet that is unequivocally Fedora-specific, with content having to pass some sort of relevancy test to be a part of it.

There’s no place to address my questions about this on the Planet Edited wiki, and unless I missed it, there doesn’t seem to be an IRC channel or mailing list for it either. So I’ll just do it here in my Fedora blog. While I wish there was a vehicle for these questions to be more widely read, my not-often-read blog will have to do.

Plain and simple, I do not plan to include Larry the Fedora Guy blog in Planet Edited — choosing to leave it here in the Planet, in a place where everyone is free to read or ignore it, rather than having to submit items for approval to a self-appointed group to give its imprimatur. That’s because, with a few exceptions (like this item), the Larry the Fedora Guy posts that appear on the Planet are just posts from the Larry the Free Software Guy blog, written by yours truly, that have a topic specifically aimed at Fedora. The posts even mention that.

However, I do want to point out a couple of things the people at Planet Edited might want to address, like:

What does “some time” mean? You say in the wiki “you most likely need to be a Fedora contributor since some time.” “Some time” can mean “since 2002,” and it can be “since this morning.” (and “most likely?”).

Who exactly are the “editors” making the decision regarding what qualifies as content “Fedora-enough” to be on Planet Edited? The e-mail this morning announcing Planet Edited comes from an Andrea Veri, a name with which I am not familiar. Further, the only post on the Planet Edited so far is only one by Seth Vidal. So just thinking aloud: Are the people making the decision regarding what qualifies as Fedora-quality submissions some sort of secret Star Chamber, or are the people making the decisions working in the transparency for which this project is known? So far, I’m not seeing a lot of that.

And finally, is there a valid explanation for what appears to be the reinvention of an already well-working wheel?

Answers can be forthcoming or not, but I’m just wondering.

Registration is now open for SCALE 9X — register now by clicking on the winking penguin.

First things first: Robyn Bergeron, Ryan Rix, Paul Frields, Ian Weller, Max Spevack and anyone else who put this event together deserve the Nobel Prize for Events, were there such an award. If you haven’t thanked them, do so now. I’ll wait, and I’ll probably say this several times during the course of this blog post.

Perhaps the best part of FUDCon, which I mentioned in the last post, is the fact that you can put faces to the names that you only see on IRC channels. The down side is that there’s going to be someone that I forget to mention, so if I forget to mention you, my apologies in advance. So it was great to meet mi gran amigo Alex Acosta after talking to him on-line for years. The list grows: Joerg “kital” Simon, who I have spoken volumes to on line regarding Ambassador matters; Harish Pillay, who I got to work with on Monday at length; Juan Rodriguez, aka Nushio (NOOSH!); my FAmSCO colleagues from this hemisphere, Igor Soares and Neville Cross; FWN wrangler and now Indiana Linux Fest owner Pascal Calarco; Susmit Shannigrahi, who I never got enough time to talk to, but I promise to make up for it (especially getting stuff to CSU); Jean-Francois “Jeff” Saucier, who we sent back to Canada with lots of stuff; Maria “tatica” Leandro, who successfully took pictures of me without breaking her camera; Rex Dieter, who I didn’t get to talk to enough during the course of the weekend (sorry, Rex); Mairin Duffy, who makes me and everyone else in Fedora “look good” by giving us great design; Guillermo Gomez, who has some good ideas that I’d like to help implement . . . the list goes on.

Then there’s the press: Amber Graner of Linux New Media was there, interviewing those at FUDCon and hanging out with us at the registration table, and the interview questions will be addressed after finishing this item.

Special mention goes to the man in the penguin suit: Mark “MarkDude” Terranova got a lot of promotional and marketing mileage out of the suit, both at FUDCon and in the extracurricular activities that (I was not a witness to any of the tales that followed the suit around the Tempe campus and its surroundings). I got to room with Mark for FUDCon, as well as have him in the car for 11 hours each way, and it was a conversation-filled trip both ways.

It was great to see those I had worked with in person before: Adam “The Happy Assassin” Williamson, Jon Stanley (the Giants will repeat in the NL, Jon — sorry!), Jared Smith, who was constantly in motion (as the FPL tends to be), Paul Frields, who I didn’t get to catch up with but I have a feeling I will soon; Mel Chua, who taught me how to make croissants; Tom Callaway, who sported a Cogito Ergo Nom shirt on Saturday (good call); and others.

Working with Ben Williams, John Rose and Clint Savage — whose path, fortunately for me, seems to cross mine all year every year — on matters dealing with Ambassadors is always a welcome opportunity. Not only this, there’s a good feeling in getting swag into the hands of folks to take home and distribute, whether they’re here in North America or elsewhere. We got a lot done, I think, as everyone did in their sphere of interest in the Fedora Project. As far as FAmNA is concerned, we have a pretty good idea where we’re going with events this year, both tech and non-tech. More on this will be discussed in future posts.

Also, there were buttons floating around saying something like “take our distro back” — I can’t remember if those were the exact words, but that was the sentiment — which is odd because where the Fedora Project is concerned, I don’t think I have to take something back that I already have, not to mention something I haven’t lost, in the first place. Go figure.

Oh, and before I forget: Don’t forget to thank the organizers of the event, Robyn Bergeron . . . oh, right, I said that already.

[Larry Cafiero serves as an Ambassador Mentor for North America in the Fedora Project, as well as serving as a member of the Fedora Ambassadors Steering Committee (FAmSCo).

Registration is now open for SCALE 9X — register now by clicking on the winking penguin.

Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first: It must be an Arizona State University tradition for students to walk back and forth in front of my hotel window and scream gibberish in a triple-digit decibel voice while waiting for the slow moving freight train with the nonstop horn to slowly pass the hotel; the hotel, of course, which either has its wireless piped in directly from Egypt, or can easily qualify as the world’s worst wireless. [It should be noted that I'm in the secondary hotel, so it's my own fault that I'm not in the hotel with all the cool people.]

That’s it.

Other than these, um, misadventures which really have nothing to do with the Fedora Project, FUDCon Tempe has been an unqualified success as far as I am concerned.

Of all the great work getting done here — and there is a lot — one of the things that make this an outstanding event is the fact that meeting face-to-face, and working in person with, someone you only know as an IRC nickname goes a long way. Most people — and until FUDCon, you’d include me in that group — might say that face-to-face meeting is overrated, but now that I’ve done it, I am convinced that events like FUDCon are a textbook case in how to do things in order to get things done.

On a FAmSCo level, I think being able to meet two of my fellow members on this board — Igor Soares and Neville Cross — to discuss issues of importance to FAmSCo in person has been beneficial, and you will see the results of this in upcoming FAmSCo meetings. Igor made a very impressive presentation about Ambassadors in LATAM. Getting to work in person with folks with whom I get things done on an almost daily basis in the ethereal world of #fedora-ambassadors — and that would include Clint Savage, Ben Williams and John Rose — was also a joy.

Kudos go to those who organized this event in an area close enough to allow me to attend: That would be Robyn Bergeron, a woman in perpetual motion who I don’t think ever stopped throughout the event (and who’s entitled to a couple of weeks rest, at least, once this is over) and her accomplice in FUDCon crime, Ryan Rix, who again was just about everywhere one looked, leading one to believe that maybe there’s more than one of him.

Tomorrow we’ll take a look at some of the things accomplished at FUDCon and, if you’re not careful, a picture or two.

[Larry Cafiero serves as an Ambassador Mentor for North America in the Fedora Project, as well as serving as a member of the Fedora Ambassadors Steering Committee (FAmSCo).
Ahem.

Now that I have your attention . . . .

Several months ago, there was a discussion in Fedora circles about the similarity between the Fedora Project logo — a very smart one that signifies a lot of different things (as outlined below) — and the Facebook “F” that is encapsulated in a rounded-off square.

This discussion started when someone related a story where a person approached the storyteller and mistook a Fedora button on a backpack for a Facebook button. I thought it was fairly innocuous at the time — yeah, they’re both F’s, but still, you have to be kind of — oh, I don’t know — lacking some basic observational skills to confuse the two.

Of course, when it happens to you, then the issue becomes a tad more clear.

Earlier in the week, I had coffee in beautiful downtown Felton at The White Raven — home of Larry’s Famous Chai (the Larry in question is not me; though as an aside, Felton could be a town that holds the distinction of having the most people named Larry, per capita, in the nation. But I digress . . . ). A woman sitting at the next table looked over at me — well, more specifically, looked over at my ThinkPad T30, which sports a Fedora F sticker next to the touchpad — and asked, “Excuse me, where did you get that Facebook sticker?

Frankly, I live for segues like this, as it gives me a chance to talk about Free/Open Source Software, Linux — upon which Facebook is based, no doubt — and Fedora. I explained that it was not a “Facebook” sticker, but that of the Fedora Project, and launched into a conversation over our coffee about Fedora, Linux and an invitation to join the Felton Linux Users Group, which conveniently was meeting that Saturday.

Herein lies the confusion.

This is the Fedora logo. The Fedora logo provides by design three distinct and important elements that are basic tenets to the FOSS paradigm: Voice, which is the blue background “bubble” reminiscent of voice bubbles in comic strips and the like; the “F” for freedom (or Fedora); and last, but certainly not least, the “F” for Freedom/Fedora is part of the symbol for infinity, albeit upright as opposed to horizontal. When you look at this, it conveys a lot of different — all positive — messages. I would suspect that the Fedora Project’s Design Team gets tired of me singing the seven-minute album version of their praises, but of all distros in this solar system, if not the entire galaxy, the Fedora Project’s artists are the best, period. Also, there’s a wiki page on the history of the Fedora logo which outlines its origins — it’s definitely worth a read.

On the other hand . . .

On the other hand, this is the Facebook F, which as you can see is a stylized F on a blue square with rounded corners, tastefully and tactfully shadowed and reflected to provide an almost 3-D look. It’s clean and attractive — very attractive in fact — and I’m sure that the folks at Facebook may have paid a handsome sum for the design of this logo. But when you put the two together to compare and contrast, you can tell that there is a huge difference between them, with the letter “F” and the color blue being where the similarities end.

Though its roots go further back, the Fedora Project was initiated in the fall of 2003. Mark Zuckerberg was still in his dorm at Harvard kicking off Facebook on campus a year after that. I bring this up because I have been unable to ascertain which logo came first, but I am fairly certain the Fedora logo came first. If anyone can shed some light on this, I’d be grateful.

Now, is the fact that the two logos are sometimes confused at a fleeting glance a problem for folks at Fedora? Some in the aforementioned discussion at the outset of this blog thought so, to the point where they opined that perhaps Fedora should change its logo. On the contrary: It’s a great opportunity opening a door for people who are asked about the “Facebook” sticker/button to talk about Linux, FOSS and Fedora.

Yes, it only comprises a half of a percent — that’s 0.5 percent, if you’re keeping score at home — of all the Linux users. Yes, that translates to a microcosm of Linux users within a microcosm of overall computer users. So I understand if Linux on PowerPC does not apply to you.

But it might.

Regular readers of this blog know I have a soft spot for PowerPC architecture. I was a Mac guy before I was a Linux guy, and I became a Linux guy using Linux on PowerPC architecture before I finally — finally — warmed up to Intel, AMD and others. You’ve probably read here how well this processor works, and how fondly I remember Steve Jobs doing the Adobe Photoshop demonstration during every Macworld keynote while the PowerPC processor kicked Intel’s sorry butt time and time again.

While major distros have been tripping over themselves to make a bee line away from developing for the PowerPC architecture since Apple dumped the processor, Fedora skipped its development of a PowerPC version of it’s current release, Fedora 14. On the surface, they joined OpenSUSE in recently saying a hasty “adios” to an architecture that, sadly, is being used less in the hardware world.

[Currently, I have two iMacs at Redwood Digital -- a flavored G3 333MHz and an iMac G4 "desk lamp," both running Debian. Of all distros, Debian has remained consistent in its commitment to updating its PowerPC version of their distro. They also remain committed to developing for Commodore 64 and Atari architectures as well, while we're at it, but I digress.]

But Fedora’s parting with PowerPC for Fedora 14 seems to be just a break. There is good news for those who use the PowerPC: Fedora will be back in the PowerPC fold with Fedora 15, scheduled for release in May.

On behalf of the microcosm within the microcosm, thank you, Fedora.

During the course of the year, the FOSS traveling salvation show in North America wends its way around the nation to end up, finally, at the Utah Open Source Conference (UTOSC) in Salt Lake City in October before taking a hiatus for the holidays. Then of course the new year, FOSS-wise, starts with the Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE) in February.

There’s only one word for those who might want to skip the last-of-the-year Linux expo: “Don’t!”

Quietly and with little fanfare, UTOSC has been building up to a top-notch, not-to-be-missed show that is beginning to draw deserved attention — and people — from outside immediate Utah area. In fact, in the last four years it has grown to become the best community computer conference in the Mountain West.

UTOSC will be held from Oct. 7-9 at the Miller Campus of Salt Lake Community College in Salt Lake City. Attendees who register before Saturday can save 30 percent on the price of admission to the three-day event. Regular admission to UTOSC is $70 for a full-access pass, $25 for an expo pass with entrance to try-it lab workshops and $15 for an expo pass.

For registration information, visit the registration page and those who register before the Early Bird registration deadline Saturday can use the code OPEN to get the discount.

[Fedora folks who want to put in some time in the booth can get free admission. That would require you to contact me by e-mail at lcafiero-at-fedoraproject-dot-org and I'll get you hooked up.]

This year’s lineup of keynotes — Jared Smith, the Fedora Project’s new project leader; Howard Tayler, creator of creator of Schlock Mercenary; and Karsten Wade, of Red Hat’s Community Architecture team — highlight the more than 60 presentations scheduled for the three-day event.

Two scheduled events at UTOSC other shows should look at deserve special mention. UTOSC is a very family-friendly show, meaning kids are welcome — in fact, the trio of junior high girls who talked about their involvement in FOSS at SCALE earlier this year are going to give an updated presentation at UTOSC — and there are activities for them as well. Second, there’s a huge game night at the end of the show, and I’ve honed my Munchkin skills over the year with the intention of not being trounced this year.

In addition, of course, Larry the Free Software Guy will also be giving a non-Fedora presentation on User Groups 2.0 — Noob Morning in America. Never one to be accused of false modesty, I have to say that one is not to be missed.

See you in Salt Lake City.

A question I’ve been asked more than once over the past few days is, “How long, exactly, were you on the train?” Taking a train from Oakland, California, to Osceola, Iowa, consists of a total travel time of 46 hours, most of it without connectivity (Note to Amtrak: More people would travel by train if they could connect. Just sayin’ . . . ).

I bring up this now-unconventional mode of travel — especially a mode of travel that flies in the face of jet-setting — because you would think that if I sat in a train for 46 hours (not as bad as it sounds, really), the event to which I was going would have to be pretty special.

The event in question — the Fedora Ambassador Day North America 2010 — was that special and more.

Those of us who work on our chosen distro sometimes get into a routine where we are content with working with people around the world through electronic means — IRC, e-mail, etc. Work gets done, things move forward despite never coming face to face with those you work with.

It isn’t until you have face to face contact with the people with names you know from channels that the process becomes more human, and more real. The difference in working alone from a remote location and working together with people you know, even though you’ve only met them for the first time a few hours ago, is literally night and day — and being in the same physical room, as opposed to the same IRC channel, makes a remarkably positive difference in the process.

For FADNA 2010, items on the agenda were discussed, debated, argued, duelled-at-ten-paces — OK, I made up the last one — and while we had a good time, we also put our heads down and moved forward dealing with getting some things fixed as well as dealing with some significantly tough decisions.

There were several decisions made which will be discussed in a future blog and discussed in other blogs around this subject. More importantly, however, working sessions like FADs that Fedora holds is a trend that should be expanded within Fedora and, if other distros are smart, they will copy this facet of Fedora to incorporate into their own programs.

A huge “thank you” goes out to John Rose, who coordinated the event and hosted a great party on Saturday. Dennis Gilmore, barbeque chef par excellence, prepared a huge barbeque feast on Saturday eve, for which we are grateful. Thanks go to Max Spevack for his guidance and coordination with Red Hat, and for wearing a new type of “red hat” on Saturday courtesy of the Iowa State’s bookstore (hopefully he will blog about it) and thanks to my highly esteemed colleagues — Clint Savage, David Nalley, Robyn Bergeron, Ivan Makfinsky, Ian Weller and Justin O’Brien — for being so willing to chop wood and carry water, in the Zen sense, in moving Fedora forward.

As many of you already know, Fedora elections are coming up — for the Fedora Board and for the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee (FESCo) — and as many of you may not already know, I am one of the candidates for the Board.

I entered the race after a conversation that turned into a debate in #fedora-ambassadors about the degree of apathy in Fedora at the advent of these elections. I entered not so much to change things or to promote my own agenda — an non-existent agenda, as it turns out — but to offer the experience I have gained on the Ambassador side of things to the Fedora Project.

Questionnaire answers for all the candidates can be found here — go take a look. Also, don’t forget to come to the Town Hall meetings when they take place. Ask tough questions and expect sensible answers.

Lars Delhage put up a Facebook page for my candidacy (thanks, Lars!), and I’m both honored and humbled by that. Also, while I may sometimes seem flip about elections in general and being a candidate in particular, I can assure you that I am completely serious about serving the Fedora Project as a board member.

The Fedora Project cannot lose with the high caliber of people involved in this race, regardless of who is elected. To be honest, I find myself sheepishly in awe of the people with whom I share the ballot. I’d like to publicly thank all who stepped up to the plate for this election, both for the Board and for FESCo.

And, yes, I’d appreciate your highest consideration once the balloting starts. Thanks in advance.
