While tying up the loose ends for the event from Fedora’s side of things, plans for LinuxFest Northwest move forward on the LFNW Fedora Activity Day (FAD) as well as speakers for LFNW.
While speakers are to be finalized next week by the festival organizers, those talks from Fedora that have been proposed are “Participate or Die” by Karsten Wade and Jarod Wilson conducting “Customizing Your Own Fedora-based Distribution.” Clint Savage will also be on hand to give his popular “Fedora Remix” talk, which drew a considerable number of people at the Southern California Linux Expo (SCaLE) in February.
As for Fedora Activity Day, it will be held at LFNW all day on Saturday, starting with a 10 a.m. talk by yours truly on “Fedora 101″ — a basic introduction of who we are, what we do and why we’re here. The remainder of the day will involve the standard FAD activities — if SCaLE was any indication of what is in store, FADs involve getting some work done on tasks like font packaging and documentation while having a blast doing it.
Fedora will also have a booth at the LFNW, and we’re urging those who want to staff it to contact me as soon as possible.
Beavers in a row . . . ? On our way to LinuxFest Northwest, Karsten Wade and I — either as a team or separately — are scheduled to talk to students at Oregon State University in Corvallis about Fedora. We are going to talk to at least one class and, hopefully, talk to a group of OSU LUG members afterwards. If we’re lucky, we’ll get to give OSWALD — the Oregon State Wireless Active Learning Device — a test drive to see if this is the kind of machine that Fedora developers might take a liking to (and if I were further along in my computer studies, I’d say “yes”).

Hi Larry! I’m going to be at LFNW, let me know what I can do to help out on anything.

Just saw the news over at the LFNW blog.
I’ll be at LinuxFest too. Karsten Wade’s talk is about something that I’ve been bitchin at my company about. The president of our company will be there too if I can get her to go. Our IS mgr just doesn’t get it. Although I can understand because things are tight.

I will be there too… and giving one presentation (OpenVZ Project Update) and participating in another (Proxmox VE)… and they haven’t published a schedule yet so I don’t know when I’ll be free. Of course I’d rather not be tied up in a booth with all of the Linux and FOSS goodness all around… but I am willing to volunteer and hour or two to help staff the Fedora booth if you want/need me. It would be nice if there were a lot of volunteers so that each one only had to work an hour or two in the booth… so everyone could see as much of the show as possible.
